I want to find a new way to abstract my images because I find myself doing macro images. I enjoy macro shots but I want to challenge myself in finding a new way to abstract.

Photo Series/Professionalism

[gallery type="square" ids="89,88"] P is for Pattern and B is for Bubbles

I've been working on getting more abstract. These two images are my step towards abstraction. I've gone back and redone the letter B which goes more with my project. I see myself searching for the abstraction in every word that comes to mind.

Professionalism... what is it? For me, it is the way you present yourself. It can be though your business card, email, website, face to face contact, work ethic, the actual work, etc. I consider myself a professional although I might not be making the big bucks at this moment because the way I do my work. It is also the experience and practice one has in a field.

Photo Series Recap

[gallery type="rectangular" ids="70,71,72,74,75,76,77,73,69"] We all learn the alphabet growing up but from generation to generation it hasn't changed much. There are plenty of words that could be used for the alphabet; we have a dictionary full of words. Going into this project, I wanted to change it up. So far, I feel that I'm progressing at a steady pace but I'm not fully satisfied yet. It's like when you cook something and there's something missing but don't know what it is. Yup, that's how I feel this project is going. This project is limited. I only have 26 letters to work with so once they are all done, it's done. I don't see that being a problem because I have the Spanish alphabet that I could do next. I could also do a different version of the same project. I believe this project is very versatile.

F is for Fix, O is for Options, S is for Surprised, and W is for Winter!

A is for apple and here's an image of an apple. That's how I started off thinking with this project since that's what has been ingrained from childhood. I've become more loose as I continue on with the project and that has given me more freedom with the words. W is for winter and here is what it consist of... no need to wait for the snow.

Pictures or text first?

With society reverting back to the hieroglyphic age, I assume pictures would come first. For me, I'm a visual person so pictures first. The picture should attract the reader to read what the image is about.

Andrew Moore

Andrew Moore is a fine art photographer. He is represented by three galleries, Yancey Richardson Gallery in New York, Jackson Fine Art in Atlanta, and Reflex Amsterdam in Europe. Moore is categorized under travel photographer which is what I want to do. I want to travel and photograph this world we live in. I was looking for a photographer who did travel photography, enjoyed their work, inspired me and liked their website. His work incorporates a documentary style and fine art traditions into multi-layer historical narratives. His work is very colorful and rich which is inspiring on what I can do as a travel photographer.

Andrew's website, andrewlmoore.com/, is simple and to the point. In his navigation, you have his work, publications, blog, cv and social media. There is nothing that could distract you from his work. While looking at his work, I notice that I had to click the "Next" button and couldn't use the keyboard arrows. I'm a little disappointed with that because you can't continue the experience over to the next image. It get's disrupted with scrolling down and hitting the "Next" button.

Andrew Moore - Computer

The mobile experience was the same as on the computer. The colors and fonts transferred well from a computer to mobile. What I saw on the computer, is what I saw on my phone.  The images were too big for my small screen. I had to downsize them to fit, which made the navigation small. Not very phone friendly. I would have liked swiping method for the next picture, but it wasn't possible.

_20140915_160243_20140915_160224 On a tablet, it was a wonderful experience. I could just swipe to the left and get to the next image. Once again, it was the same view from my phone and computer. Very present experience.

Andrew Moore - Tablet

Both on the computer, phone, and tablet, the experience was the same. I would have preferred a different set up for the phone since it's a smaller, but otherwise I enjoyed all three experiences and the consistent set up.

I enjoyed the design. It is simple and straightforward. I didn't have trouble with it. The type is easy to read and doesn't make me feel like i'm in a law firm. The image size is just a hair too big. They could be taken down a size, for I never knew if I was viewing the whole image on either device. There is a blog on the website although it has not been updated since July 29 of this year. I wouldn't think of keeping it, if it's not updated regularly. He also has publications, which are his books and if you click on them, it takes you to Amazon so you can purchase one.He has Facebook and Instagram on his site. Just like the blog, the facebook hasn't been updated since July 29th. His instagram on the other hand has been last updated August 6 of this year. Those are the only two social medias he has shown on his website.

His audience is geared more towards galleries and people who would like to see more of his work. After going trough his website, Andrew seems pretty simple. Everything looks organized and straight forward.

G is for Germs, N is for Numbers, and P is for Parking Lot.

I've wanted to create something that's well-known and make it my own so I can get my creative juices flowing. I've found myself having trouble coming up with words, although I've never been good with them. Once I photographed a letter, i.e. C for cardboard, I find myself coming up with more words for that specific letter. With that struggle, I’ve decided to stick with the word that I first choose/photographed if not I would never finish. I can always go back and redo the letters once I’m done with the alphabet if I find a better fit. I have been trying to stay away from the typical alphabet that we learn in kindergarten but it’s what comes up of when I ponder of the alphabet. I will have to redo the letter “B” since ball is something that’s tough in kindergarten. Just a minor setback, but not too big that will interrupt my whole series. I want to see how this series goes and then create the Spanish alphabet. With the Spanish alphabet I will have a different set of challenges i.e. the letter “rr”, but I don’t have to worry about them for now. As a non-native of the English language, I think this series will help me better understand the language.

I was trying to get my images in alphabetical order since I'm creating my own series but it's much harder to do it that way. With that being my challenge, I decided to first get my images then alphabetize them. image
